SAR Scanner ─ Radio Direction Finder
Introducing a Robust SAR Scanner as Portable Handheld
Designed for all types of Search and Rescue operations
The X•SAR Scanner is an advanced (SAR) Search and Rescue Direction Finder, designed as a portable handheld.
SAR Scanner Handheld ► Radio Direction Finder (RDF)
In today’s world, everyone carries at least one wireless wearable, beacon or phone that constantly transmits signals.
The X • SAR Scanner Handheld is a powerful companion for ground Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. Working together with the X•SAR Radio Direction Finder, it helps minimize blind spots and greatly enhance situational awareness in the field.
By using the “X•SAR” Radio Direction Finder (RDF) as a SAR Scanner Handheld, ground operators can locate signals from nearby devices — whether transmitted via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular networks (2G, 4G, 5G), or RF emergency locator beacons. This capability helps search teams quickly identify and locate missing persons, even in challenging or low-visibility environments.
Various methods of deploying the X • SAR Scanner ─ Portable Handheld
1) Signals Based ─ Emergency Beacons + Cell Phones ─ Radio Direction Finding (RDF) ►►
- With the SAR Scanner model, the system uses forward-facing directional antennas (►►) to measure signal strength across preset frequencies within a focused 45° to 60° field of view. This configuration enhances directional situational awareness, enabling operators to pinpoint signal sources with greater accuracy over relative long distances.
2) Wi-Fi and BLE ─ Passive Attributes Collection ─ Radio Detection Finder (RDF) ►►
- The SAR Scanner passively detects wireless wearables and mobile devices, capturing attributes such as the device name (e.g., “Jean’s iPhone”) to enhance situational awareness and confirmation. Equipped with forward-facing directional antennas (►►), the system measures signal strength across preset frequencies within a focused 45° to 60° field of view, enabling precise detection and localization of signals.
3) Combined > Signals + Wi-Fi + BLE ─ in One System ─ Radio Direction / Detection Finder ▼▼
- Designed for use in avalanches, collapsed structures, rubble, and other disaster situations where missing persons are not visible, the X•SAR Scanner passively scans for wireless, BLE, and Wi-Fi signals. It intelligently filters out IoT devices, focusing only on mobile phones and wearable transmitters. Equipped with downward-facing directional antennas (▼▼) and a focused 45°–60° field of view, this SAR Scanner enables precise detection and localization of potential survivors.

─ Full Radio Range
In comparison with the ruggedized Wi-Fi + BLE system, we have here presenting the Full Range Radio Detection Finder that allow operators to scan from a vehicle, backpack or as a portable handheld.
With the directional antennas it has a 50 to 90 degrees detection angle.
